October 2000 - Last Segments of the West Highland Way

Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven and on to Fort William: The Devil's Staircase, beautiful Kinlochleven, and the finish in Fort William

Kingshouse - a notoriously bad hotel Looking up the valley from Devil's staircase A mountain shrouded in mist The boys with Beinn Bheag in the background (they've just come down from it)
The military road to Kinlochleven A spectacular valley on the way into Kinlochleven with Billy, an Englishman, bringing up the rear The bracken Cool live music! We guess accordian music is hot stuff around here.
Kinlochleven was lately home to an aluminum smelter. On our left is a spot reclaimed for housing and a center dedicated to something edifying like The Glory of Aluminum Rainbow over shops Looking from town toward Loch Leven The Blackwater Youth Hostel (right across from the aluminium plant)
Doorway Kinlochleven as we ascend an old military road on the last day. The "line" coming down the mountain on the far side are giant pipes carrying water from a reservoir to generators at the plant. Loch Leven (which we somehow did not get a picture of) is to the right The road through Lairigmor Heading to the pass
If it's Scotland, it must be raining on Maggie and Dad Out of the pass and heading for Glen Nevis Duncan and Tote headed into another managed "forest" Above Glen Nevis
Ben Nevis, the highest point in the UK at 1344 meters Ducks in Glen Nevis The end! (Would it be too much to ask for a sign without an ad on it?)
