July 2001 - Manila

A nice hotel and wonderful "jeepneys"

Our goal was to spend a few days preparing for re-entry, so, of course, the kids played a giant game of Magic. The view out the window of our room at the Manila Diamond Jeepney. Privately owned, city buses. Obviously privately decorated as well Getting haircuts, the worst haircuts of the whole trip.
Another jeep Mark and Maggie watching Jumanji. Maggie is holding Mark's hand, because she knew he was scared. Playing with flowers at the pool. Our hotel was right across the road from Manila Bay. BUT, this part of Manila Bay was one of those bodies of water that is at its best when seen from a distance. Up close the shore is a trashy mess.

Manila version of a cycle rickshaw Fans and curly hair wigs (the wigs were quite popular in Asia) Jeepney Did Mark mention that he thinks his love of old diners might have fueled his affection for the jeepneys
