The lighthouse. The first lighthouse here was built in the 1300s by the Genovese. The current lighthouse was built by the French during the Crimean War.
That lambda-shaped red line on the lighthouse is an artwork by Lawrence Weiner. Weiner is one of our era's central conceptual artists -- believe it or not. (My children often make fun of my affection for modern art. This fellow's work is a point in my childrens' favor.)
We ate at the restaurant. A much more satisfactory experience that viewing the artwork.
