View through the pollution of Vitosha Mountina from the top of the National Archives building.
The coffeeshop on the top of the National Archives was one of my favorite places in Sofia. (Kirella told us about it.) Part of the fun was reaching it. We saw no signs in the small ground floor lobby. Just a very serious looking guard in a glass booth and a gate. We indicated to the guard thate we wanted to go to the coffeeshop, if one existed, and he motioned us though the gate. Up a few stairs, we found a tiny elevator. We stepped in, pressed the button on the top and the elevator started to move. Then we noticed that the elevator had no inside door -- we just watched the floors pass. At the top, we took stairs to a landing with a couple blank doors. We chose one, and bingo, we were in a coffeeshop with a nice outside terrace that wrapped around two sides of the building.
