St. George with some Roman ruins in the foreground. In the background is the Presidency building -- the Rotunda today sits in a courtyard surrounded by the Presidency and the Sheraton hotel. One guide said that this was an attempt by the Communists to hide the church from view.
The pre-Renaissance frescos inside the church were stunning. The frescoes were uncovered (the Ottomans plastered over them when making the place a mosque) in the 20th Century.
