I googled for a breakfast place in Youngstown, Ohio and found that the nearest spot was called Golden Dawn. Obviously, I thought, a Chinese food place -- not exactly the thing for breakfast. So we followed the recommendation of a local and drove off to the local botanic garden. After waiting for forty five minutes staring at the previous day's menu and the two other patrons while waiting to be served, we buckled and drove back to the "Chinese place." It was nearly lunchtime anyway.
But, it turned out that Golden Dawn is named after a daughter of the original owner (yes, her name was Dawn. "Golden just sounded nice with her name," according to our server.)
Golden Dawn is actually a neighborhood tavern with a beautiful, curved bar. Absolutely spotless -- it looked as if we were visiting on its opening day in 1934!
