Lacey Sweetser, one of our young friends
from Denver -- the daughter of Pam & Dan Sweetser. She
was kind enough to take a break from English-teaching to have
coffee with us. She's smart, interesting, and -- as you
can see -- beautiful.
Lacey live in Gangnam, the most stylish neighborhood in Seoul
and home to a bazillion plastic surgery clinics and their
patrons. Lacey pointed out people who had been worked on
and what they had had done. One of her friends claims to
be able to recognize some noses from the clinic that created
them. According to Lacey, Koreans do surgery; Japanese do
makeup. (Lacey has a client who is a plastic
surgeon. He keeps mentally working out what surgery Lacey
should have done to her face!)
Lacey told us lots of things that it would be hard to figure out
as a tourist. One thing she asked us was whether we had
experienced the "Seoul Rudeness." We really haven't.
People have been quite nice to us, but I guess the people
outside Seoul are even nicer.
